lyrics

Forgotten toys and stove tops
Are sticking through the leaves
An old rusted fridge that is filled with cans
Has been there since the 80’s

In the center of the field there
Is a barn that’s rotting away
It’s covered in the devils ivy
All it leaves is only a shape

Sometimes I give up trying
And watch the leaves still climbing
The forest and sprawling meadows
Are living in a shadow

I think it stands to reason
That the ivy will always grow
Without someone around
To cut it down
It’ll swallow this town whole

You don’t need much to get started
And it’s not so black and white
An army of children with safety scissors
Could get the job done right

So people lock their doors now
And they never go outside
They begin to feel like it’s gone away
But I think they’re terrified

And the world that you grew up in
Is an old and used up place
And there’s so much work to do here
So wipe that dumb look off your face
